Valentine's Day has lovers all over the world exchanging love offerings. Love is in the air and chemically lovers feed the passion with the pheromones found in flowers and perfume, and the hormone found in chocolate!
Red hearts, flowers and chocolates all announce visually of signals that lovers are ready and willing for the offerings. Chocolates are by far the sweetest of the sweet gifts informing lovers of passionate love. They reinforce the fact that two people are special and well loved.
Certainly all gifts are welcome to lovers. But chocolates – be they white, dark or filled with cream or nuts are well-accepted symbols of great love. Since love and passion are often metaphorically referred to as fire, the romance needs to be kindled with flames of passion to keep it afire. Food, read chocolate, is a metaphorical equivalent of fuel for love and so chocolates are especially gifted.
Chocolates are full of sugar, and sugar full of energy. Chocolate is often referred to as energy food. Sexual intonations are stoked on Valentine's Day. The hormone phenethylamine (PEA) abounds in chocolate, which produces the same sensation as being in love. Chocolates, then, are fuel for both the mental and physical aspects of romance. Which is why lovers offer boxful's to each other.
